My name is Rana Ryan, I am a Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist, and I am the president and CEO of Consult with Rana Ryan.  My career in helping individuals began over 25 years ago after I completed my bachelor’s degree in psychology. I earned my third master’s degree in social work and became licensed as a clinical psychotherapist (LCSW) contracting as a therapist and facilitator with some of the largest social service organizations in New York City after acquiring my MBA and MPA. I began my work in social service in 1993 in Queens New York where I grew up, working as a family counselor for a preventive program counseling families and children connecting them to one another through love and learned counseling methodology.  I am certified in Anger Management earning my CAMF, Certified Anger Management Facilitator. I use this to help my patients with building healthy relationships through trust, love, honest communication, and the awareness of angry emotions.  I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional which helps me to understand that mental health issues stem from trauma. I am highly skilled, compassionate, empathetic, and solution-oriented mental health professional. I am dedicated in providing exceptional care and implementing effective treatment plans for children, adolescents, adults experiencing or exposed to trauma, drug, and alcohol abuse.

I have a proven track record of success working with a diverse population enforcing cultural competence through listening, the understanding of customs and respect for all. I have recognized over the years that employees who witness trauma and others becoming injured with environmental factors can affect the lives of employees, their families, friends, and their community.  As a therapist I am concerned about chronic traumatic events that we all witness which exacerbate negative feelings, mood swings, depression, lack of impulse control issues and suicidal thoughts.   It is my belief and experience if preventive methods are put in place it can assist in deescalating some of the depressive symptoms, memory loss and anger that may be an obstacle in some employees’ lives.

It is my belief and experience if preventive methods are put in place it can assist in deescalating some of the depressive symptoms, memory loss and anger that may be an obstacle in someone's life.  As a professional therapist trained in trauma care, I can address the everyday emotional distress one may be experiencing. I am able to provide effective interventions such as emotional regulation, coping skills, cognitive restructuring, and psycho-education. I engage my patients into treatment and them feeling good about attending treatment. My patients respond well to my treatment modality as well as returning for more services as their lives progress in areas of professional, personal, and more so family life improvement. Many patients come to me because I am accustomed to working with high profile patients, such as doctors, lawyers, musicians, CEO’s, and officers. They know I understand privacy and coming to private practice allows that confidentiality to be binding.
